Abstract Pediatric obesity and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) are on the rise in industrialized countries, yet our ability to mechanistically examine this relationship is limited by the lack of a suitable higher animal model. Here, we examined the effects of high fat, high fructose corn syrup, high cholesterol Western style diet (WD)-induced obesity on NASH and cecal microbiota dysbiosis in juvenile Ossabaw swine. Prevalence, Characteristics and Clinical Diagnosis of Maturity Onset Diabetes of the Young Due to Mutations in HNF1A, HNF4A, and Glucokinase: Results from the SEARCH for Diabetes in Youth.
Conclusions/Interpretation:In this systematic study of MODY in a large pediatric US diabetes cohort, unselected by referral pattern or family history, MODY was usually misdiagnosed and incorrectly treated with insulin. While many type 2 diabetes-like metabolic features were less common in the mutation-positive group, no single characteristic identified all patients with mutations. Effect of Caloric Restriction on Metabolic Dysfunction of Young Rapacz Familial Hypercholesterolemic Swine (Sus scrofa).
We examined whether parameters of metabolic syndrome including weight and adiposity, serum cholesterol, and glucoregulatory function could be modulated by restriction of caloric intake in the FH swine. Jejunal wall delivery of insulin via an ingestible capsule in anesthetized swine —A pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic study
In conclusion, (a) The bioactivity of RHI was preserved after its delivery into the jejunal wall, (b) the intrajejunal route delivered insulin as rapidly and physiologically as the subcutaneous rou te, and (c) these pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic characteristics of RHI after intrajejunal delivery suggest that drugs currently administered parenterally, such as basal insulin, could be successfully delivered into the proximal intestinal wall via the ingestible capsule.

A Swine Model of Severe Propranolol Toxicity Permitting Direct Measurement of Brain Tissue Oxygenation.
CONCLUSION: We report a pilot study swine model of propranolol toxicity with hypotension despite HDI, in which physiologic measures including PbrO2 are achieved. Our toxicity model can be used in the future, and the hemodynamic and brain monitoring model may prove important for subsequent research in various contexts. Low-fat dairy consumption improves intestinal immune function more than high-fat dairy in a diet-induced swine model of insulin resistance
ConclusionsIrrespective of fat content, dairy had a neutral effect on postprandial cardiometabolic risk factors. Low-fat dairy products improved intestinal T cell function to a greater extent than high-fat dairy in this swine model of obesity and insulin resistance.
